Here you can learn a bit about the difference between storing and storing wine. Storage should improve the quality of the wine through maturation.
Storage aims to preserve the quality of the wine in the time between purchase and when to enjoy it.
Wine storage is by no means reserved for the experts, and no advanced wine cellar is required. If you have a cool room it is a decent place, but the room temperature must be low, stable, low light and slightly humid air. In a basement, you should strive to fulfill as many of these points as possible:
The ideal storage temperature is between 8 ° C and 12 ° C. Many cellars are warmer in summer and cooler in winter. However, it does not have much to say for the wine as long as the temperature changes occur gradually. But the wine does not benefit from sudden fluctuations. If stored warm, it will develop faster and may have a boiled taste. If it gets too cold, the development will be hampered and the wine may settle. For the same reasons, you should avoid freezing wine.
The humidity in a wine cellar should be at least 60-70 percent. It doesn’t matter to the wine if the cellar is more humid, but then you risk ruining the bottle labels.
The bottles must be stored in the dark, as light can affect the color and make the wine develop faster.
Eventually the wines will start to lose their freshness and may have an oxidized appearance. This development occurs slowly and gradually, but faster at too high a temperature. It is important that the wines are kept dark and not too hot.
Wines with natural cork must be stored lying down in order for the cork to stay moist and not release air to the wine. Bottles with screw cork should stand upright since prolonged contact between wine and metal cork can affect the taste.
A wine with synthetic cork can either lie or stand. Wine in carton is designed to drink young. It should be kept cool and consumed within three to six months. When opened, we recommend a shorter shelf life.
Easier wines are made to drink young, and usually do not benefit from being stored longer than half a year.
